Prep for Success | 5 Steps to Prepare for the New Year

 

an you believe it? 2018 is just around the corner! This year has definitely flow by! But despite how quickly the year has come and gone, it’s still good to prep for the upcoming new year. It’s the time to look back and reflect on all the things that happened and plan for a great future! To help with that, here are 5 things that you can do to help you prepare for the new year!

 

 

1. Reflect

Now that the year is coming to an end, it’s time to reflect! Think about your past year and all that has happened. What did you like? What did you not like? It’s good to take some time to look back and analyze, that way you can see prominent points and experiences in your life. With them you can see what you want to change, keep the same, or even have more of in your life to make the next year even better!

TIP: When reflecting, look at the positives and negatives of the situations. See what lesson you can take away from them to help you grow.

2. Set the Tone

Next, based on your reflection, you can set the tone for the New Year. Here you want to think about all the positive elements you want to carryover with you. The tone you set is vibe you want to implement into your life for the year and hopefully years to come.

TIP: You can even pick a theme or quote to help you stay motivated.

3. Identify Your Goals

Now that your tone is set, you can now make a list all the goals and resolutions you have for the New Year. Goals for school? For work? For your health? List them all out! Of course, the goals can revolve around the theme too!

The objective is to have the goals aid in the changes you want to make for the year. When thinking of your goals we all want to be able to achieve our goals, so it’s good to make them practical and achievable, but still dream big! And don’t forget to make them fun!

TIP: Split your goals up into smaller mini goals to give yourself a fun challenge and give yourself rewards once you reach those mini goals.

4. Spring Clean Your Atmosphere

Once the goals have been set, it’s time to spring clean! Now is the time to clear out all the clutter; from physical to mental. Take the time to refresh your living space; throw out things you’ve been hanging onto (especially if they bring bad memories), redecorate, add new pieces. Clean out your virtual space; organize your computer and electronics, unfollow those who cause negativity on your social media, clear out our overflowing inbox.You want to come into the New Year with a fresh and clear atmosphere. So, do what you need to do to achieve that.

TIP: Go-to rule for decluttering: if you haven’t used it in the past 2-3 months, chances are you won’t use it again.

 

5. Refresh and Recharge Your Self and Mind

Lastly, this is your time to refresh and recharge. By clearing out your space, you can now refresh and recharge yourself so that you can start your year off to a great start! The most important things when going into the New Year is your mindset/mood. This helps set the tone for the rest of the year. So, it’s important to keep a positive mind and energy, whether that be letting go of the toxins in your life or planning more ‘me-time’ to do the things you love.

TIP: Make a list off all the things you enjoy doing. When you’re feeling down, try and do something on that list.
