t’s officially 2018! (yay!) That means a new year with new experiences to experience and more memories to be made! I hope you all had a great holiday season and are ready to move onward into the new year. I’m excited for what the year has to bring, but before we progress forward into 2018, let’s start on a positive note and take a look at all the things I’ve loved in the year 2017. Welcome to the first post in my the Edits favorites series.
Black H&M Turtle
My first fashion favorite is this ribbed turtleneck from H&M. It’s definitely one of my most worn pieces in my wardrobe! It’s great for when I want to easily look put together. You can’t go wrong with a classic turtleneck.
Adidas Stan Smiths
When I’m not wearing heels, you’ll catch me in some sort of flay show. My next favorite has been the Adidas Stan Smiths. I have been wanting a pair of these for the longest time! I was gifted them from my sister for my birthday and have worn them so many times ever since! They’re a great pair of classic white sneakers, very comfortable and minimalistic in style so you can wear them with any outfit. And of course, the bonus for me is that the green and white is great Nigeria representation (whoop!)
Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation
For beauty favorites, also mentioned in my previous favorites, I’ve been loving the Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation. Basically, this foundation is so light weight and breathable with buildable coverage (but a. And the best part is, it gives you a nice glowy finish! Even with my oily skin, this foundation doesn’t make it look greasy.
ColourPop Super Shock Shadows
Next, I have been loving the Colourpop Super Shock shadows. When I first got these, I was amazed by the quality. They are so silky and have great pigmentation. I got a set of four in the Zingara palette in the summer with the colors Jinxie (a soft pearlized gold), Elixir (a matte terracotta), Seeker (a matte warm red-brown), and paradox (a satin warm burgundy red). This quad is so customizable with the combinations and I could create so many looks from just these four. I definitely want to get more Super Shock shadows in the future!
As a black girl, protective styles are essential to keeping your hair healthy. If you know me, you would know that I am very low maintenance when it comes to my hair. I do not have the patience to constant style it. So, crochet extensions have been my go-to for hair styles for pretty much all year. They’re so easy to install and look. I’ve been rocking Senegalese twist and a curly afro styles this year and have loved them!
My last beauty favorite has been African shea butter. This past year I had I switched to using mostly natural skin products on my face, but for the longest time I was on the hunt for a natural moisturizer than wouldn’t clog my pores or break out my skin. This past fall, I tried shea butter and have been hooked ever since! If you want amazing soft skin, I highly recommended using this. I have definitely seen a different in my skin especially with the winter season.
And there you have it guys, all the things I’ve loved throughout 2017!
A new component of my favorites series is setting goals for the upcoming each monthly. In this case, instead of January goals, in the spirit of the New Year, I wanted to set a few goals for myself to get motivated for the year 2018!
GOALS FOR FOR THE YEAR
- Putting Out More Content
My first goal for the year is getting more content out onto my blog. I have so much planned that I want to do, so I want to make it a point to stick to a schedule for posting.
- Connecting with Other Bloggers
I really want to use my platform to connect with other blogger/creative minds. It would be cool to find a niche of blogger buddies and doing collaborations, etc.
- Focus on my health
I want to be better at taking more care of myself and promote healthy habits. So, I’m making an effort to fit in more exercise and self-care into my days.
- Purchase a Few Big Expenses
This year I have so many things I want to do, from purchasing a new DSLR camera and camera equipment, a room makeover, to going on a possible Euro tip. But of course, these things cost a bit a money. So, in the meantime I’m creating a budgeting plan to help me along the way.
- Establish my personal brand
Something I want to work on this year is establishing my personal brand. Not just on my blog, but myself as a person. I want to establish signature things that become a part of my identity and personal style.
